Say what you want, but this is probably one of my favorite Sterek moments in the show.
And Derek isn’t even in this scene. Way to prove a point.
Because this is Stiles standing face to face with the enemy. Not Peter (the Alpha and main villain of the first season) but Chris Argent – the man who’s probably gonna kill Stiles’ best friend, and has been scaring the shit out of Scott since the Pilot. They’re not on the same side. Chris kills what Stiles tries so hard to keep safe.
He spits this into Chris’ face. He defends the werewolves, and he uses what happened to Derek’s pack as an example. He’s saying the hunters did wrong in setting that fire. That they did Derek wrong. And he’s pissed. Look at that anger. He’s pissed that Chris killed his best friend because he turned instead of helping him deal. He’s pissed that they killed Derek’s whole family, even if he doesn’t know how many of them that were harmless.
Stiles does similar things in the second season when mocking Gerard right into his face. And he calls himself not a hero. He’s the fragile human forever on the werewolves’ side, against everyone and everything else, and that totally breaks my heart.
Idk, I just really felt like sobbing over this moment.

Yes. I agree completely. I love this scene for its Sterek-ness.
And not just because Stiles is defending not only himself and Scott to Chris, but because it comes out of nowhere.
They’re not talking about Derek. They’re talking about Scott. But Stiles makes it about Derek.
Because despite the fact that they barely get along and seem to hate each other, defending Derek is something that comes naturally to Stiles.
despite how much he wanted to play, how much his family and friends wanted him to play. in the end, stiles gave it up just to help out derek hale.
